THRACE. Perinthus. Elagabalus, 218-222. Medallion (Bronze, 39 mm, 28.58 g, 7 h). ΑΥΤ Κ Μ ΑΥΡ ϹΕΥΗ ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝΟϹ ΑΥΓ Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Elagabalus to right. Rev. ΠΕΡΙΝΘΙΩΝ ΔΙϹ ΝΕΩΚΟΡΩΝ Heracles standing facing, head left, holding patera with his right hand over garlanded and lighted altar and club and lion skin over his left arm; above, eagle to left, looking back. RPC VI online 978 = Schönert-Geiss, Perinthus 725 (this coin). Unique and with an impressive pedigree. Deep flan crack and minor smoothing, otherwise, very fine.
